Private Houses
Project 1

Private house
Set on the north facing slope of a valley within the conservation area of the Cornish fishing village of Padstow, this contemporary designed 21st century house brings together local materials, a respect for its surroundings and an internal arrangement suited to modern living.
The sweeping local Delabole slate roof with fine lead work, and the slate wall hanging mixed with the glazed areas provided a traditional and contemporary mix of materials. The local stone lower levels reflect the existing robust walled garden.
The upper storey achieves good light levels with the introduction of sloped glazing to the roof. Full height glazing to both sides of the main living space communicate the spaces and offer fantastic views into the harbour at Padstow and across the estuary.
Externally the secluded courtyard to the front provides off-road parking and access to the integrated garaging. The rear garden terrace arrangement allows a lower level green garden space and a hard landscaped upper level adjacent to the house from which the sounds of sights of Padstow can be enjoyed.
